jesus junk of the month award

January 15, 2008 · 9 comments

i’d seen this jesus water (actually, “spiritual water”) on a few posts and sites, but thought it was just a silly marketing gimmick, like something jesus-y that would be sold as kitsch at urban outfitters. but i hadn’t realized that the makers are serious about this, until i read this article.

key sentences:

Inspired, perhaps, by vitamin and energy waters, a number of new companies have begun making more explicit claims: their water doesn’t just promote good health, it actually makes you good. Holy Drinking Water, produced by a California-based company called Wayne Enterprises, is blessed in the warehouse by an Anglican or Roman Catholic priest (after a thorough background check). Like a crucifix or a rosary, a bottle of Holy Drinking Water is a daily reminder to be kind to others, says Brian Germann, Wayne’s CEO. Another company makes Liquid OM, superpurified bottled water containing vibrations that promote a positive outlook. Invented by Kenny Mazursky, a sound therapist in Chicago, the water purportedly possesses an energy field that Mazursky makes by striking a giant gong and Tibetan bowls in its vicinity. He says the good energy can be felt not just after you drink the water but before, when you’re holding the bottle.

water that make you good? that, my friends, is surely deserving of a JJOTM award.

and, a jesus junk verse to go with it:

Heb 13:9 Don’t be lured away from him by the latest speculations about him. The grace of Christ is the only good ground for life. Products named after Christ don’t seem to do much for those who buy them. (MSG)

(ht to, well, God, and, yeah, the Bible. but, ht to mark eades for pointing it out)

had a quick question, how is media shout working for you with your mac notebook? (i know this has nothing to do with this post, sorry)

ibarra — i’ve found it works fine, using bootcamp (software that allows you to boot your mac into a windows environment). so i’m really running mediashout on a pc at those moments.

Mark-o, we have lunch riding on this question, so please humor us.

Are you able to use Mediashout on your mac with the Dual monitor/projector? Are you able to use your MAC for the actual presentation?

yes, totally, i use my mac. i can edit mediashout presentation while my mac drive is running, using a program called parallels. but when i want to actually use mediashout in duel monitor mode for presenting, i use bootcamp to boot my mac into a pc environment (it looks like i have two hard drives – one pc and one mac; but in reality, there’s just a section of the one hard drive that’s given over to windows).

Does anybody remember that Christian soda that was sold at Spirit West Coast? Man they should have gone in this direction. They probably would have lasted. Man this junk just makes me laugh, how is it any different than regular water? I’m gonna start a Christian Cereal company and I will bless the cereal along with a Children’s pastor before it goes out. Since I will market it towards children of course.
