The smurf village being bombed was a little disturbing, but I guess that was the intent. I knew about the Communist myth, but not about the KKK one.
This was such a great cartoon back in the day, kids don’t know what they are missing now.

My parents have this book that they got when we were kids called Something “in the toy box” (can’t remember the first word). I think it was written by and ultra-conservative about all the evil toys. I read most of it when I was in Jr high, and there were some pretty creepy stories in there about smurfs that I have never forgotten! maybe I should find them and post them on my blog!
