did you read the christianity today article on mclaren? i have really been loving this emergent, emerging, emergence debate. but really, instead of looking at it form the perspective of you're either emerg[ing/ent] or not, shouldn't we be saying you either accept the emergent shift or not?

the shift is happening. we can't stop it (and i wouldn't want to.) either people embrace the change or ignore it.

I was thrilled to read your review this morning. Phyllis is here in Austin and your review gave a nice frame to listening to her talk. I agree this is such an important book.

Got my book through Amazon two weeks ago and it is great. Her analysis of history and culture and what brings about change in religion is great. I hope that all critics of the emergent movement will take the time to read this. Thank you for introducing her to us last year in Atlanta.

I was there for her talk in Atlanta, and it was absolutely amazing. (definitly worth buying the DVD if you can find it) She was able to place things in a historical context with precise, concrete language things that had totally escaped me. What I was only able to express in a fuzzy language of feeling, she was able to address with just the right blend of synthesis and detail. great stuff! I picked up an early release of this book, and it has been only more of the same. definitely my #1 book for the fall.
