i found this art project blog interesting — tiny bits of art on the shells of snails, photographed in city locations (it’s called “inner city snail – a slow moving street art project“). here are a couple samples:

I’ve seen that on hermit crabs too.

I have snails in my fish tank. They are actually kind of facinating to watch. Especially the ones in fresh water tanks because they come up for air. I haven’t noticed that in my salt water one. They are busy little workers, too.
