overheard at my 6th grade guys small group

yup, this just might become a series. i guess it already has (part 1, part 2, part 3).

last wednesday, the guys were seriously hopped up on halloween sugar. holy cow. they gave their self-selected group name, atomic squirrel, a sense of being understated.

a handful of word-for-word winners:

my mom paid me $60 to not go trick or treating.

for halloween, i was a gorilla with fairy wings.

when i was 2, i was exploring the garden, because i was curious about the world and what it was like, so i smashed myself on the head with a brick.

we were talking about being god’s masterpieces…
when i think of a masterpiece, i think of glass animals, because you can centerpiece with them.

my co-leader: we keep growing and changing, our whole lives…
6th grade guy: i don’t think god would want us to have time machines, though.

I’m a middle school pastor and have my twin sixth-grade boys in our ministry this year… these quotes should sound absurd, but are sooooo normal for this aged kid! Thanks for sharing.

in general – love the centerpiece comments, I’m picturing the glass animals as fantasy animals (unicorns, etc.) which makes it even better

Shane – what a cool ministry moment…have fun over the next 3 years
