medical advice of the day

in light of the news about broccoli reported in this article (that broccoli has sunscreen effects and can help fight skin cancer), a helpful researcher clarified:

“This is not a sunscreen, because it does not absorb the ultraviolet rays of the sun,” explained Dr. Paul Talalay, a professor of pharmacology and molecular sciences at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore. “We don’t want people covering their bodies with broccoli and going to the beach. They will have no protection whatsoever.”

thanks, doc.

  1. “They will have no protection whatsoever.” Really? If you’re covered in broccoli – seems to me you’re covered. No sunlight. All shade.

    You’re protected.

You look funny and you’re wearing broccoli… but you’re protected.

  2. MarkO,
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. And the same to all who do this conference. I came prepared to be stuffed to the gills with information and prayer and networking and brochures from awesome people who will help me reach kids with Christ’ love in new ways and on and on and on. And then you said it. “Go shopping, go nap, go eat fatty foods” (I’ve paraphrased, please don’t let you inner academic hate me.) But I heard you and listened – how often do people do that for you, I love to know when I reach people, so I thought I’d mention it – and I went back to my hotel room at an opportune time. Hold on, I’m having an “I just realized I skipped the DCB moment, crap, but we move on. I just wanted you to know that what you said struck one of those straight from God’s desk to me through you chords. I had to come and spend time really laying all of my burdens, I sso often forget to let go of, on God. I just NEEDED to spend time with just me and my lord and it had not even occurred to me to take time out from doing God’s work to be God’s child this weekend. So, in my voluminous tome kind of way, thank you and your people for reminding me that yes, God can come first, and all the awesome training can come second (Okay, maybe music and then learning, but honesty just makes me look so much less scholastically imposing.)
God bless you and all the awesome people I met today.
    Paul
