i get asked with semi-frequency about what movies i’d suggest or recommend to show at a youth group movie night. often, this question is focused on the values of “fun and safe”. but youth ministry coaching program participant joel mayward has a great post recommending more than 30 movies.
I’ve grouped these chronologically by rating, including a brief synopsis and a few spiritual themes one could draw from the film. I’ve also highlighted the films in italics that will require some discerning and serious film-watchers (i.e. these aren’t for throwing in the DVD player of the tour bus on that 10-hour road trip or for 90 minutes of mindless entertainment).
he breaks them down by rating, and offers a couple sentences of rationale for each. great stuff — every youth worker needs to print this out or copy and paste it into a saved doc for future reference.
such a great reminder, also, of some truly wonderful films.
