rotating grid optical illusion

this is so trippy, i thought it was fake. an animator named david oreilly discovered that when a uniform grid is rotated at certain speeds, the eyes and brain override reality and break it up into several smaller rotating grids.

seriously, click through and check it out. i thought it must be fake, and cupped my hands around smaller segments on my screen; which, sure enough, proved that it’s the real deal.

amazing what our minds do.
