sunday night, home from guatemala

sorry for the lack of a post today (until now). i had posts set to go through yesterday, for the whole week i was in guatemala, and just haven’t had a chance to write anything.

jeannie and i had a wonderful time. we landed monday morning at 4:30am, and went to a hotel to sleep for a few more hours. i had to get up (jeannie slept longer), and do a few hours of training for the middle school and high school teachers of a large christian school. i had a really nice time with them, though the room was really loud, with fans running due to the unseasonably hot weather. monday evening, we drove down to antigua, guatemala, and got checked into our gorgeous resort, had dinner together, and settled into our beautiful two-room suite. really, the thing was stunning. vaulted wooden ceilings, stucco fireplaces in both rooms, original art, big windows that swung open onto private courtyards (total privacy even when our windows were open).

tuesday, we joined the leadership team of the school for lunch (they were down at the hotel for a day of meetings). then jeannie had the afternoon free, and i did about 4 hours of leadership development stuff. really enjoyed my time with these 20 or so people. i’ll probably blog more about this in the next few days.

then, from tuesday evening, through to friday afternoon, jeannie and i were totally free. we slept in, read books, wandered around the cobblestone streets of antigua, guatemala, ate wonderful meals, talked and connected, and really and totally relaxed. it was everything i’d hoped it would be. i’ll post pics in the next few days.
