the complete list of things i learned by having 30 middle school boys in my pool this past weekend

actually, it was 23 boys, 11 – 14 years-old, and 8 adult leaders. they were substantially rowdier than mixed-gender crowds of middle school or high school kids twice the size. we had over 90 high schoolers in there once, and these 30 guys were way more nuts. and, after seeing if they could all get in the hot tub at one time (which they did), the water in it was extremely low. but all that i expected. here’s the complete list of things i learned by having them in my pool this past weekend:

1. the water was really gross after they left.

  1. i’ll bet you don’t have a sign by your pool that says “don’t pee in my pool and i won’t swim in your toilet.” just as well… it wouldn’t have done you any good last weekend.

  2. When I was that age, we would have used inner tubes and pool floats to try and see how high we could get the waves.

We might have also played a game of Marco Polo, but I imagine you have to change the rules at your house….

    “Marco!”

    “What?”

    “Marco!

    “WHAT?????”

    “Marco!”

    “CUT THAT OUT!”

  3. Shane and I discussed how the guys might play Marco Polo at your pool. To avoid the confusion Jeff Moulton’s rendition would create, Shane thought it would have to go like this:

    “Arco.”

    “Olo.”

Anyway, thanks for hosting it. The stories were great!
