today is my sweetie’s birthday

jeannie’s birthday is today (she’s got a holy birthday — 7/7), and she’s thrilled that we’re all together and have nothing to do other than being tourists in washington dc. i was out of the country on her birthday the last two years in a row. so this will be nice. we’re looking forward to the national gallery (especially to see the rothko rooms), the presidential monuments (lincoln, washingon, jefferson), the vietnam memorial (which i’ve somehow never seen), and a few other things. tired feet will happen. here’s jeannie and the kids in front of the capitol building yesterday. happy birthday, jeannie!

more substantive post to come. i’m perculating on a post about the similarities between the nazi party (during it’s rise to power) and the religious right, after my visit to the holocaust museum yesterday.

  3. Happy birthday to Jeannie, happy birthday to Jeannie, happy birthday to Jeannie, happy birthday to Jeannie!

Great family picture. I hope you guys have a truly wonderful time.

  4. Have you read “Night” by Elie Weisel??? If not, pick it up. He is a survivor of the holocaust, and his book is amazing. It is full of so many questions about where God was during that time? I can’t get the images out of my mind. It was more alerting than the museum even, for me at least. It has me thinking more than ever before how God is so much more than I could ever imagine. that’s all i can say about it for now. Check it out.

  5. Jeannie, happiest of birthdays to you!
Sounds as though you and your family
had a GRAND day, capped off by a visit
to the West Wing. :-) So glad that you
can all be together on your day!
